Its been more than year. I am using ps3.I have some audios,pictures and videos but they hardly make up a total of 1 GB.I have some save data of 5 or 6 games.Once i tried to update my system but a problem occurred when it reached 40 % because the network cable was unplugged.Is this the reason only 17 GB left.How to remove those files.There is no option except format in system settings
And one question more, I need some information and tips about PS network and updates etc

Can I use a wireless router to connect to an established network?

My computers and PS3 connect to the internet via a wireless network. I have a wireless modem (2Wire), and the first computer is hardwired to that. My main computer and PS3 connect via LAN adapters.

Now I'm trying to connect another computer. I have a wireless router hooked up to the last computer. The router is receiving the signal of the network, and an ethernet cable is running from the router to the new computer. The problem is that I am not even given the option to connect to my 2Wire modem. In other words, I cannot view the wireless networks in the area on the new computer.

Am I missing something? Is this possible to do? If not, why is the router able to pick up the signal? I know I could just get another LAN adapter, but I'm trying to work around doing that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently got a PS3 and i am setting up my Playstation Network Account to play online. When setting up it asks for my home address. Why would it need to know that? I dont know if i should put my address or a fake one. It also asks for my birthday and real name. Why does it need them and should i put a real answer? I recently heard that Microsoft is increasing Xbox Live prices this November. If Playstation Network is still free, I might switch over to PS3. Why should I pay extra now for online multiplayer ?? Hey, why even pay at all. I've been very disappointed with Microsoft lately. Everytime my subscription is going to end for Live, my connection gets so laggy everyday of the expiration week. I want to hear some opinions. I really don't play games, but I got my Xbox from some friends for surprise. So, should I continue with the 360, move on to the PS3 or just don't play at all. I find it as a sort of a waste of time. I'm also in college, so I don't really have much time to play. Thanks for answering.

well, i have a PS3 headset, and one of my network mates is from Holland, i'm from England. he has a headset so i can hear him but his accent is very strong and a little hard to understand, i don't want to sound rude by saying pardon a lot so what can i do?

should i just stick to messages?
it also is confidence, i sound a bit nervous when talking online because you never know what someone will say! how can i get over that?

My obsession with Fallout 3 resulted in a detrimental situation! I got my first PS3 for my 18th Birthday and I started playing fallout about two weeks later..... I played that game for hours and hours and hours non-stop... so much that i burnt out my PS3's hard drive =( I got 99% of the trophies.... even the platinum one :D But now I bought a new ps3..and started a new game.. now i don't see any of my fallout trophies!!! however, when i signed in to the ps network it seems that i still have them.... Does that mean i still have them and that they just wont display on my ps3 trophy collection?!?

Hey, sooo......I got my ps3 two days ago and had a vouched gift card for the ps3 store. But it said before I by anything I must have a playstation network account but that I mush have a master account because I'm under 18. Stupidly, I asked my dad to make an account whilst it was still on my user! We tried to fix this by making another user for my dad and swapping the names around......then I realised I couldn't transfer my saved games to my account (so annoying). We changed the users back and changed the details but the problem Is my ps3 has my dads online user name, if thinks I'm a man and it also says eerr..that I'm a tAd bit older :P please, how do I delete the account!!!!!! :)
Do you mean your User account has your Dad's PSN ID?

Yes, and I know you can change the details e.g. Email, Address and name, but it doesnt let you changed your user name, age or gender. So if I play online my friends will think im a 40 sumthing year old man, with my dads user name! :P
And I meant, because my Dad joined the Ps3 network on my user, i changed my user name to my dads name, then created a different user for myself, then we were going to create a Ps3 sub account for myself that way, untill i realised that i couldnt transfer my saved games (or they wouldnt work when i transfered them) from my old user, to the new one. So yes, i just want to see if i can find an easy way to DELETE the account :)

I need a good gaming router for a VERY large home network. If anyone knows of one please read on for details!?

Im looking to set up a rather LARGE home network involving a minimum of 3 computers 2 Xbox 360s a PS3 Wii and a network storage device (LAN Hard Drive). I need a good router (hopefully either D-Link or Linksys) that can support such a task. Mind you what I listed above is MINIMUM... there may be more added in the future. Price isnt TOO much of an object but Id rather have something reasonable if possible.
No we do not have FIOS. I wish LOL! Instead we will have a minimum of a 16 mbps Comcast (sad face) connection. Up/Down speeds obviously are important but the answer I am looking for is for a router that can handle the port forwarding / trigger etc. for such a massive load.
Didnt read the whole post... yeah I CAN upgrade to a business line... for an extra 100 a month! But it would be worth it... the advertise 100 mbps! Whether thats true or not I dont know... but if it is then I will have to go with that.

My roommate and are having big problems with our internet. Rather then running cat-5 all over the place we have been network sharing (one of us plugged into the wall, one roaming free) however my roommate is gone and now i am stuck plugged in ... we have tried a wireless router, which wont work because of ResNet. So now what I would like to do is Plug in my computer to the Ethernet cable, and share the network to my PS3 XBOX360(with wireless) and other laptop ... as well as his when he gets back. i have a motorola surboard sb5101 cable modem. for some reason it wont let me connect to more than one computer as if it "locks on" to it. im using a network switch on it to connect my laptop and ps3 to it, but even after reseting it, whichever device connects to it first will only work on it. is there a way to fix this?

Problem with connecting my PS3 to my router via a wireless connection (picking best answer)?

Ok so I usually keep the PS3 downstairs with an ethernet cable attached to the router for the PS3 to be online via a wired connection. But now I've moved it upstairs and the routers downstairs so I now want to connect it wireless but I can't because I don't think I'm changing the settings right. So I go into the internet connection settings and it says "Adjust settings for connection to the Internet. If making a wired connection, you must have an ethernet cable connected." then I click 'OK'.. So now it says "Select a setting method" and I pick 'Easy'. Then says "Checking network configuration, please wait." After that I choose the wireless connection, now it brings me to the WLAN settings. Then I click scan and it finds my bt homehub with a signal strength of 67%, so then I click my router. Now it goes on to my WLAN Security setting and I click 'WEP'. I then enter my WEP key for the router. Then it says "Checking network configuration" (this takes about 2 minutes). So then it ends up with "The connection to the access point timed out" and brings me back to the start. Have I made a problem with my settings or something? Answer that will help me will be picked for the best answer, thanks.

Ok i have confirmed its not my router. I have reset the router numerous times and have called com cast as they advised me that i will need to contact MICROSOFT. The issue im having is im connected to the Network and i have excellent strength. Its giving me a red X in between the network and internet diagram. I have called microsoft and said i can pay $60 for a tech to repair this issue or look for the answers over the internet.

I know my wireless works because i have no issue with my ps3 or apple ipod with my network. And before i moved out i had no problem running the dell WIRELESS with fios. I know its not the service provider because like i said i have other devices that run WIRELESS. Please if someone could give me a step by step detail on how to connect my dell laptop wireless. I am pretty much clueless so the best possible instructions would be very helpful

My router can't validate my computer (further questions)?

I'm using Windows XP as my operating system

The problem is that when I try to connect to my router, my computer says that it can't verify it. After a thunder storm, our router was broken and then fixed (not replaced). My wireless network card/computer does detect the networks, however once I connect to my network a popup comes up and says validating identity. It sends about two packets and does not send anymore.

I don't what is causing this problem. A strange thing is that even though my PS3 uses a WPA-PSK encryption to connect to the router, my computer (when I enter the password) does not come up with validating identity for WPA-PSK, but for WEP. It won't even send a packet to the router with WPA-PSK.

So, do you have any solution? And if you do, how do I go about fixing this?

What I really think that makes PSN "inferior" to Xbox Live is that almost no one uses their Bluetooth headsets.

I'm playing online on PSN, and I feel that it's offline.


Please, if you have a headset, use it. If you don't, and you can't afford the official PS3 Bluetooth headset, just buy one like the Motorola H700 on eBay. It's cheap, between the price of $10-$15.


I'm pretty sure that as soon as all those gamers on PSN start using headset, it will be better.


I think that using headset can even improve teamwork online!

It's not happening to my PS3! I just can it gives me an error code saying Currently, the server may be down for maintenance or updating. Please try again later (20000001) I don't believe that because it has been like this for about 4 months now, and i'm trying to convert a psp game from ps3, but because I can't create my exsisting playstation network account this is pretty much impossible for me. I was running around the web, but I'm still not sure what to choose. (to be read <I don't know what I need>).
I have a wired network at home between my master pc -amd phenom II x3 720 with only 500Gb HDD, 1 PS3 wired, 1 WDtv Live wired, and some wireless gadgets including 2 laptops and other stuff.
I am a big fan of movies and music also. So, I need a method to backup all the movies i want - HD most of them - and a lot of lossless audio tracks.
I found this Sitecom MD-253 Home Storage Center and I thought I'll put inside a Seagate 2TB HDD and then add another one, when its full. Is this a reliable option for me, or to be more specific - do I really need a NAS solution or should I use HDDs added on eSATA to my Master-PC.

I am realyy dizzy. I really need some clues here. Thx in advance.

I see that you can buy playstation 1 classics on the playstation network on the psp. When your about to buy the game it details that you can play on both the ps3 and psp. Here's the promblem I don't own a ps3 so if I buy spyro will I need a ps3 to play it on, or can I play it on my psp without the need of a ps3.

I've tried googling these errors, but all of them never have an answer and people just asking the same question and nothing being solved, so i thought i would just come here and get some help.

First my ps3 wont connect online through wireless. I've tried two ways and i get two different errors.
When i go to network settings, and scan automatically > choose my router > enter wep key > attempt to connect. The error i get when i do these steps is that it timed out trying to optain the IP address. The WEP key may be incorrect.
So then i tried manual way. I cant remember the exact steps but this is the main overview, network settings > manual > enter router > enter wep key > ip address i entered manually (if i dont i get the same error as last time) > and other steps which i choose automatic. The error i get when i do this is DNS Error. The IP address is obtained, but the internet connection cant be made. I use a wireless computer in my room, and i have no problems with connecting to the internet from here.

I am 100% sure my router details are correct, and my WEP key is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do I need a external network card to my Linksys router?

I have my desktop computer, laptop, and PS3 connected to the Internet in my house through my Linksys router. I don't know what model it is. I have no problem getting Internet. My sister's friend gave her her old Dell laptop because she got a new one. When it came time to connect that Dell (with Windows XP) to my router, it wouldn't let her. The wireless card in the Dell detects my router because I can see the SSID, it just won't connect. My router security settings are WPA2 Personal and when I am looking on the Dell under the Network Authentication pulldown bar, it only shows Open and Shared. My own laptop has all the options my router does (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.). How do I get this Dell to connect to my router? I tried changing my router settings to WEP and I still can't connect. It just gets me locked out of my own router. Am I going to have to buy an external network card for this Dell in order for my sister to connect to my router and use the Internet?

Playstation 3 internet connectivity problems?

used to it had absolutely no problems at all connected great but about 6-8 months ago we had a lil bit of a storm and after that it seems like its really hard to connect and stay connected. i had a surge protector on the ps3 so i believe its the router which is kinda old anyways. but sometimes while playing online it will say "lost connection to one or more players", "your nat/router is to strict", and sometimes it will say "an error has occurred you have been signed out of playstation network." so i know their is certain wireless routers made for game systems should i look into one? will they still work with laptops just like a normal router because i have 2 laptops? and could you tell me what those messages up their mean? P.S. My set up is a router pluged directly into the internet line with a wireless router plugged in also for my laptops and i use it for my ps3 also. and idk if it has anything to do with it but sometimes my laptops lose internet connection just randomly but soon reconnect? Is it my router or is it a more severe problem like with the internet its self? i have internet, phone, and satalite all together in a package from the same provider.
Just as i was doing this ? i lost connection on my laptop and thankfully by hitting back and waiting a few seconds i didnt have to retype this whole ?. It is a very annoying problem please help

so tonight i wanted to play some COD with good friends of mine and i noticed it took forever for the matchmaking server to connect so i thought it was the disk, after a few attempts it wasnt and i thought maybe my connection and i did a test and it was fine, then i thought of logging out then back in, and it let me sign in, but i couldnt have access to my account info and i couldnt access the psn store, for the store it showed "not available for your region or country" and i knew that was odd cause everything was working no more then 24 hours ago, and when i wanted to access my account management it showed that lovely 80023017 error code.

So to put my mind at ease...its just the stupid psn network doing matanence right? or an update coming? cause i really hate that error code......any advice would help thank you

I was just notified by rogers that I am close to my internet limit. I am starting to wonder if it is my ps3 using it up. I play modern warfare 2 online, sometimes watch episodes of the real world and I have also downloaded 3 demos and had a system update. Do any of these activities use up my internet? Also, is there anyway to check how much is actually being used by my ps3?

Ps. Does being signed on to playstation network use it up, or just messaging people? (I also have a 25gb max, I believe :P)

my wireless internet connection is no longer working, how can i fix the problem?

My internet was working great until this week when my landlord for some reason messed around with the router and the cable modem....I connect to the internet wirelessly and it no longer works. I told her about this problem and she's not a tech person at all. She let me do what I could...I disconnected and connected the cords and power and reset the router and modem.

Now for my computer...problem is I can connect to the network....it says good signal but no internet access. How can I fix this problem? It isn't my computer because I tried to connect to the internet on my ps3 and it didn't work either. What do I need to do to the router/modem?

problem connecting new hp laptop and ps3 to belkin wireless.?

This has been a problem for a while now.

We got a belking wirles connection about 6 months ago. when we got it we connected our laptops, desktop and wii to it. it is secure i think.

but i have a new laptop that i'm trying to connect to it. I seatch for available devices and it's there but when i try to connect to it ( even adding the network key). it 'acquires adress " but then nothing happens. i know that the laptop doesn't have a problem because the wirles works when i use it at other people's houses and stuff.

i tried doing it while connected to the router and even with setup disk in but still it doesn't connect. i don't know why. it's wpa aswell.

Can my PS3 detect my XBMC library on my hacked Apple TV?

I just bought a first-generation used PS3, and it's kinda, well...not worthwhile for me, I think.
I got it mainly to be able to play some PS1/PS2 games I still had (my PS2 has been on the fritz), and to get Dragon Age for it, since the copy I bought and play on my Macbook pretty much sucks and runs like crap, because Macbooks aren't for gaming or anything (who knew?).

Furthermore, it doesn't seem to want to detect the files that I'm sharing over my hacked Apple TV.
As things are right now, I have a 2TB external hard drive hooked up to a hacked Apple TV that has XBMC and other goodies installed on it. The Apple TV, with XBMC, can read all of the data off of that hard drive just fine, and my Macbook and my roommate's iMac can read those files just fine over the network. Essentially, the Apple TV can be used as both a media center and a file server when accessed over the network.

The PS3 can't seem to find the Apple TV over the network (not that I've been able to see, anyway), however, and hence, can't access and play the music and videos that I have on the external hard drive that's hooked up to it.

Is there a way that this might be possible to do?
